Albert Einstein was quoted as saying something like, "I only want to know God's thoughts, the rest is merely detail."
Being a conceptual person I live in a similar way where I'm usually interested in abstracts and theories, and find details tedious. Often this gets me in trouble because details are what actually happen, and the theories are merely possible explanations for what took place. On the flip side, I'm sure it's easy to get lost in the details by simply ignoring what may be causing what you're observing.
There is a balance required. When navigating, wear your conceptual hat more often than your details hat. When getting your hands dirty, wear your details hat more often so you can maintain focus, but occasionally try out your conceptual hat otherwise you may be working away in the wrong direction.
