Content Driven Sites

I've been looking in to content driven web sites lately and how people are making money from them. This is a very interesting and potentially lucrative area that is open to absolutely anyone, with or without programming abilities. This is in contrast to the flurry of recent web applications touted as *web 2.0* applications that require expert computing knowledge. It's good to understand content driven sites because you can find inexpensive labour to do the grunt work for you! Content driven sites make money from click throughs, sponsorship, affiliate programs, occassionally from subscriptions, and probably many other ways. I have read of people doing very well in this industry but it's also the sort of industry where you would expect to remain weary of any "advice" offered - except when from me, of course ;) The challenge is to draw the crowds to your sight and then dazzle them with your content. Hopefully your page will lead your readers to click through to an affiliate, or some company that has an advertisement on your page. I wont give away where I'm looking to make my entry but with a little bit of Googling, you can easily find an entry for yourself. You need to work out the combination of marketting, content, and revenue model that generates the greatest amount of money. You need these skills regardless of what type of Internet business you're in too. You have to understand your market and you need to know how to work this out. By the way, I don't know how to work this out, yet. But I do know that you can "leverage":http://alexpooley.com/articles/2005/10/30/its-about-time what you learn to make money on any Internet based business you choose to start. For me, the real value in content based sites is that I get an extra venture for basically nothing. While someone writes the content for me, I can work on my more complex programming based venture that I can't afford to pay someone else to get done.
