I've managed to purchase a new domain called "jxqiche.com .":http://www.jxqiche.com The domain has roughly 66,350 links in the major search engines. I acquired the domain through "snapnames":http://www.snapnames.com and it cost me USD $60 which is the minimum amount you can bid on a domain. There was somebody else who wanted the domain so we went in to an auction together but because I registered my interest in the domain first I was the initial high bidder. The other bidder never raised their bid so I eventually won the auction after the standard three days.
To be honest, I purchased this domain largely out of interest. I want to know how much traffic I can expect from such a domain, and possible avenues for making money. 66,000 links indicates a significant site, so I was fortunate to find the domain as a test candidate.
There is one small catch though. The original content on the domain was written in Chinese! and no, I don't read/write/speak chinese... Also, it appears that all the inbound links to the site are in Chinese.
Never one to shy away from a challenge, I have devised a cunning plan involving Google adsense, and "YouTube.":http://www.youtube.com If this doesn't work, I'm sure I can conjure up something - there's so much "free" content on the Internet or easy ways to create it! If all else fails, I'm sure I can sell the domain for a profit on "Sedo":http://sedo.com as 66,000+ links will surely fetch a fair price.
