I was meant to be back at work today, but I’m not going. That’s because a week before my three week holiday started I quit my job. I left to pursue my passion for creating software on the edge. Here’s why I think my move is reasonable and not some manifestation of a deeper, crazier, inner self.
success = ambition * persistence * chance
In english, your level of success is equal to how high you set your goals (ambition), how hard you work to get there (persistence), and some factor of chance.
Ambition - My goals are usually _too_ high, so yes, I have ambition.
Persistence - I’ve been working on various projects after hours and on weekends for over 2 years now.
Chance - Hope’s evil, mentally unstable cousin. Unpredictable, but always reliable.
The forumla above applies to sport, business, life, and any other personal goal you may have. I needed to turn up the pace and keep my sanity at the same time so I left my job.
