Personalised Flyer

Wowy! I played rugby union for a season while I was at uni and ever since I have received spam for any large rugby related event. I don’t mind so much from these guys though, their spam is always interesting. The second last mailing I received was a neat little calendar, but this flyer advertising a new professional rugby team representing Western Australia is definitely the best mailing ever.

In case you haven’t caught on, “Pooley” is my last name. Very cool! I think Time Magazine ran a special publication once with a satellite photo of the subscribers house on the cover. I guess this rugby flyer is more of a cheap trick in comparison, but it’s certainly buzz worthy.

    You’re thinking of Reason Magazine’s April 2004 issue: http://reason.com/news/show/29166.html

Gee, we have a Rugby team here in Western Australia, I’d have never known. Hmmm maybe they should do some more traditional advertising.

Caught my eye and my last name is Poole.

Personalized gifts are huge. My wife and I run a small online business in which we create personalized special occasion plates. These plates and platters are all hand painted and we create many unique designs. We have noticed that many of our plates are given just because they are personalized. It seems many people are running out of ideas when it comes to gift giving.

    Interesting post.

    Thanks

[...] Do not personalize a direct mail piece just for me. Sure, you’ll probably get my name right, but you’ll never spell my husband’s correctly. And that just looks stupid. And do you really want your company name splattered all over some “goofs” page when your mailing list is inaccurate and you send something to the family dog? [...]
